1. Primary HIV Infection
- Flu-like Symptoms
-Body Begins to create antibodies
2. Clinical Asymptomatic Stage
-Asymptomatic: does not show symptoms
- this stage last for 10 years
- HIV present and active in blood
3. Symptomatic HIV Infections
-Immune system becomes weak
-Opportunistic infections/disease occur
-These diseases and infections would not cause harm to a normal person,
but can be fatal for someone with a weak immune system
4. Progression from HIV to AIDS
-fatal stage of HIV
-immune system destroyed
-Illness becomes more severe, diagnosed with AIDS
-People do not die from AIDS
